About Aditya

Aditya Ryan Bhat a is a Narrm/Melbourne-based musician working across improvised and notational, acoustic and electronic practices. Although a percussionist most of the time, Aditya is also involved in composing, curating, and writing about music, bringing a clear political focus to these activities. Fond of experimentation, Aditya has had the chance to work with leading new music figures/groups - including Anthony Braxton, ELISION Ensemble and Speak Percussion - and has co-founded contemporary collectives WHACKollective and Shrishti सृष्टि.

About Shrishti सृष्टि

Shrishti सृष्टि was founded in 2024 by Yona Su, Aditya Ryan Bhat & Sean Quinn as a response to the prevalence of coloniality and heteronormativity in Australian classical music. In response to this situation, the collective resolved to make a platform for more LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC musicians in the experimental and classical space to be heard, and foster new collaborations to advance this mission.

Shrishti सृष्टि aims to decolonise musical practice, to build a community around our practice, to take an international perspective, and to approach social and political concerns with honesty and integrity. We have presented three concerts so far: nestings, asunder at the Norla Dome (music of Sia Ahmad, Sarah Hennies, T McCormack, and Sean Quinn), Colonialists Can’t Dance! at Cross St Music Hall (music of Todd J. Bennett, Anthony Braxton, Liza Lim, Nicole Mitchell, and SCHUBART), and REINVASION DAY!!! at Cross St Music Hall (music of Todd J. Bennett, Brenda Gifford, Alec Hunter, and Aaron Wyatt).
